Our goal in this course is to help you learn how to create your own secure news website. Graduates of this course will be given a FREE Custom Common Sense Community News Website hosted on our secure servers. This course includes 12 evening sessions from 6 to 8 pm. These sessions will be on Tuesday nights, beginning September 23, 2025. In addition to the 2 hour online weekly meetings, this course requires 2 to 4 hours of reading and practice assignments each week. For Security reasons, whoever is posting to your News website should use a Linux computer. We will review options for getting a Linux computer during our first class session and we will help you get a Linux computer and learn how to use it. But it is similar to a Windows 7 computer. Linux Laptop Cost: If you have an old Windows 7, 8 or 10 desktop or laptop computer, we will help you reflash it to Linux at no charge. The process takes about one hour. Alternately, you can buy a used Dell Laptop for about $300 or a new Linux Pinebook Pro laptop for about $300. Either way, we will help you reflash it to Linux Debian at no charge prior to or during our course.
Course Cost Options: The normal fee for this 12 week course is $240 – or $20 per week. However, we do not want the course fee to prevent you from taking this course. If you are on a limited budget, we still want you to take the course! So feel free to ask for a fee waiver. To pay for the course, you can either pay online by going to Washington Family Rights Coalition.org and making a donation of any amount you feel you can afford or mailing a check (or request for a fee waiver) to:
